VC of GB v Camberley

21st March 2012

Another very good match was held last night at the Royal Military Academy in Camberley. It started off with Geoff Gill the Camberley No1 beating Chris Ansell 3/1. It was good to see Chris back on court after a spell in hospital, it will take him a bit of time to get back to his normal self but he is on the way.

John Woodliffe does not often beat John O’Brien but it was his turn last night, though all the games were tight at 10/9, 9/5, 9/7.

Lance Kinder with a sore heel was a bit handicapped and was beaten by a very focused Steve Johnson 1/3.

Seumas Kerr had a very hard match against his long term friend Sam Coulter. It took well over an hour but Seumas was fired up in the fifth and took it 9/0.

At two all it all depended on the no 5 strings. Andy Hartley started well with a 9/2 win but Andy Craig forgot the ski slopes and took the second. However his mind must have wondered back to the “après ski” thinking of that slivovitch to come and Andy Hartley took full advantage and won the next two.

It was then full speed to “The Standard” for a pint, a J2O for one of the players and a good meal.
