VC of GB v Camberley

28th February 2017

The match was due to be played at Sandhurst but due to a problem with their courts, there was a last minute switch of venue to Camberley Leisure Centre. This did not daunt the Vets who triumphed 3/2 in a close match.

As usual John Woodliffe and Lance Kinder got proceedings underway with a 3/0 win quickly followed by David Parker who was serving exceptionally well and even surprised himself and won 3/0.

Ash Chakraborty then had a great battle with Geoff Gill (also a GB Vet) which ebbed and flowed with Geoff proving too strong in the fifth.

Alan Boulden at No. 1 was in good form but found Kevin Teale (also a GB Vet) in even better form and lost 3/0 although the game scores were close.

So 2-2 it was going into the last match where Ron Walker making his debut for the GB Vets ran out a 3-0 winner in a match of very short rallies against Camberley captain Andy Craig (also a GB Vet) to give Vets a satisfying win.

Afterwards we all adjourned to a local pub for a nice few drinks and meal.
