Such a glorious place to play squash – certainly the
best in London and probably the South East. Great, if
not a trifle warm courts, facilities second to none and
post match bar and dining to die for, or at least to
play squash for!
Somehow this fixture was lacking a GB Vets Match
Manager until just a few days before the event. However
a team was raised and battle duly commenced.
Unfortunately for the GB Vets the battle was rather
one sided – in favour of the RAC. It was only Ash
Chakraborty at No.2 who managed to get 2 games, everyone
else – Chris Goodbourn, Tariq Mushtaq, Chris Lowry and
Ron Walker went down 0/3.
But heh ho the defeat was soon forgotten in the bar
and we were overwhelmed with the opposition’s wonderful
hospitality combined with generous helpings of liquid
refreshment and the best beef in town!
With thanks to the RAC and James Gardner in
particular, the GB Vets, having been invited back next
year, vowed to take revenge.
