FRIDAY 12th JANUARY 2018
The annual fixture versus Beckenham was hoped to
produce a victory for GB Vets fielding a strong team
with National Champion and World Champion Ladies
strengthening the squad. The strongest team put out for
this fixture for some years, sadly Beckenham responded
in kind!

GB Vets numbers one and two started proceedings but
despite excellent squash from all sides went down 3/1
and 3/2 respectively.
The two ladies retrieved the situations both with 3/1
victories
Unfortunately, the captain Robert Smith failed to
make a dent in a rather faster opponent and Nigel Belle
despite producing some of the most entertaining examples
of the art of squash just failed to win a close
encounter of the unknown kind 2/3. The Marker rather
unusually receiving a conduct warning from the
supporters!
Result GB Vets lost 4/2
Their followed the usual excellent cuisine from the
Beckenham Chefs who received a warm round of applause at
the end of the evening for an excellent dinner. Ian
Smith Beckenham’s Captain raised a toast to GB Vets and
Robert Smith responded with a toast to Beckenham Cricket
Club, thanking Ian for producing a highly competitive
evening of squash followed by a convivial evening,Ubers
were then summoned by some, mainly those that had
consumed most of the wine and the teams parted with a
round of handshakes and threats of retribution next year
from GB Vets.
