This new fixture was played at the Ealing Squash &
Fitness Club on Friday 1st June.
Always difficult to gauge the standards of players
the first year to ensure good games all round, but
actually this match turned out to be pretty well
matched.
Playing PARS to 15 Neil Davies at No.4 got the GB
Vets off to a great start with a comprehensive 3/0 win.
However Bryan Francis at No.5 didn’t fare so well and
lost 0/3. 1/1.
Next up Ash Chakraborty at No.2 battled hard just
losing the first 17/19 and then losing the next 2.
Chris Goodbourn (also an Ealing member but persuaded to
play for the GB Vets) at No.3 levelled the score with a
3/1 win. 2/2.
No pressure therefore on Alan Boulden at No.1 to make
it a win for the GB Vets. However he knew his opponent
of old and knew it would be a tough one. And so it
proved, an excellent match but Clive Johnson, the Ealing
Manager, came through 15/13, 15/7, 15/11 to make it an
overall 3/2 win for Ealing.
An excellent evening, the GB Vets looking for revenge
next year!
