Another successful doubles match against BCC – great
hosts, but vitally a first win for the GB Vets – 20
points to 16! *
Match of the Match was between GB Vets No.1 pair,
newcomers Fergus Burnett and Darren Beavers (a last
minute replacement for the injured Adam Rich) and the
BCC’s No.1 pair of Scott Hews and Dan Sweeney. A high
quality game, with fabulous shot play from all four
players, with GB Vets squeezing over the line 15/14 in
the final game.
Fergus and Darren won their second match, Karen and
Mandy won both their matches, whilst the ‘Andys’ –
Bonner and Davies – won one tie.
Veteran veterans Nigel Belle and a limping Robert
Smith, although unsuccessful, provided a touch of
humour, but without their pogo sticks were slightly
limited in their movement!
Karen Hume.
*= 4 pairs each team, each pair playing twice, best of 3
games, PARS to 15, 1 point for a game, + 2 points to
winning pair.
Postscript: Interesting to note that of the 8 BCC
players 7 were also GB Vets!he teams lined up as follows:
