10th JANUARY 2019
In a close match our younger GB Vets won at the top
of the order to put us 2/0 up whereas our ‘older’ GB
Vets went down fighting at the lower end so 2/2.
Unfortunately the Roehampton No.2 did not show so we won
the match 3/2. However our No.2, Dave Smith
played several games with other team members so he
enjoyed a good work out!
Well done to new member, Francis Sancisi
who won convincingly in his first match at No.1 .
In the doubles 3 of the 4 players were immaculately
turned out in their pressed club whites and the 4th
player was even more immaculately turned out in a
blotched black and white cow shirt presented to the
Roehampton captain on a recent tour of Jersey!
The match at Roehampton always runs to time and works
like clockwork – 6.45 arrive, 7.00 three matches start,
8.30 match ends and retire to bar having already chosen
dinner from the menu, 9.00 dinner served, 9.45 speeches
and photos and home to bed. Great evening all round and
thanks to Nigel Clarke for keeping us all up to speed.
Graham Chambers,
Match Manager.
