With our No.1 Fergus
Burnett recently injured and one of their
players also injured we agreed to play 4-a-side.
First on were Peter
Culver No.3 and David Parker
No.4. Both had good, long, hard games but lost 1/3 and
0/3 respectively.
Cathy Ruffle
No.1 knew her opponent from previous encounters so knew
it was going to be a tough challenge. And so it proved.
Both players giving their all but Cathy lost in 3.
It was left to Dan
Sweeney No.2 to save a whitewash. Some
excellent squash from both players, and the scoreline
shows just how close the match was – 15/12, 19/17, 15/13
– unfortunately for the GB Vets the result went Purley’s
way!
So a 4/0 win for Purley, but over
the last 7 years the GB Vets just have the edge 4/3!
Roll on next year.
Thanks to non playing Match
Manager, Fabio Goriup (also a GB Vet!) for organising an
excellent evening rounded off with homemade lasagne,
chips and much alcoholic banter!
