THE RULES OF THE VETERANS SQUASH RACKETS CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN


1. THE NAME OF THE CLUB. The Club shall be called The Veterans Squash Rackets Club of Great Britain.

2. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB. The Club shall have the following objectives:

a. To encourage lady players over age 35 and male players over age 40 to continue playing the game.

b. To promote and encourage the holding of Veterans’ events as part of tournament programmes.

c. To arrange matches, at home and abroad, between the Club and other teams.

3. QUALIFICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP. All ordinary members shall be squash players of the appropriate age, who have been approved by the Committee.

4. THE COMMITTEE.

a. The Club shall be managed by a Committee which shall consist of not more than nine ordinary members, together with a President and not more than five Vice Presidents, the Chairman, the Secretary, the Match Secretary and the Treasurer.

The Committee shall have the power to co-opt. One member shall retire by rotation each year but shall be eligible for reelection.

The Chief Executive of England Squash and the Chairman of the Masters Sub Committee of England Squash shall be ex-officio members of the Committee.

b. The Committee shall meet at such place and time as may be convenient. For ordinary business the quorum shall be five voting members. All business shall be decided by the vote of the majority. The Chairman of the Committee shall if necessary have an additional casting vote. The committee and all officers of the Club shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

5. ELECTION OF MEMBERS. The election of members shall be by the Committee.

6. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. An Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held each year at such place and time as the Committee may decide. Not less than twenty eight days notice of such meetings shall be given. All resolutions and nominations for the Committee and Officers of the Club shall be received in writing by the Secretary not less than fourteen days before the Annual General Meeting. The quorum for the Annual General Meeting shall be twenty.

7. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called at any time by the Committee or on receipt of a written request signed by not less than fifteen ordinary members of the Club. Notice of such an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be posted to all members at least twenty eight days before such a Meeting, giving the object, date, place and time of the Meeting. The quorum for an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be thirty five.

8. SUBSCRIPTION. The first annual subscription for ordinary members is payable by Bankers Order immediately upon election and thereafter by Bankers Order on the first of July each year. The subscription shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting. Any member whose current year’s subscription remains unpaid for more than three months shall cease from that time to be a member unless the non-payment can be justified to the satisfaction of the Committee.

9. EXPULSION OF MEMBERS. If, in the opinion of the Committee, the conduct of any member is injurious to the interests of the Club, then, after due investigation and if all members of the Committee are in agreement, the Committee has the power to terminate the membership.

10. ALTERATIONS TO THE RULES. Alteration to the rules shall be made only by a majority of not less than two thirds of the number present and voting at the Annual General Meeting.
